emergence
There is something in nature you have to slow down to see. My effort with these images is to reveal that thing; to let it emerge in your experience through my photographs.
Akin to meditation, my work in nature is like walking in a garden where the gardener has prepared tableaus for the visitor to find. Of course this isn’t literal. I have no illusion that there is a gardener at work in nature, rather it is the organizational compulsion of my mind that makes me stop to photograph at a certain place. If I’m successful in my work, I can break through the bulwark of my brain’s internal dialog and let imagination allow myths and metaphors emerge from the landscape through my lens.
